Military Topographer's Day in Russia is celebrated annually on February 8. This professional holiday is dedicated to military topographers who play an important role in providing navigation, planning and cartographic support for the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The holiday was established in 2002 by the decree of the Minister of Defense, and the date was chosen in honor of the founding of the military topographic service of Russia, which occurred on February 8, 1812.
