History of student brigades
Student brigades in Russia appeared in the 1950s as volunteer organizations in which students were engaged in labor activities in their free time, participating in construction, agriculture and other projects. The movement flourished during the Soviet period, when brigades actively worked on various construction sites and other large projects. In the 2000s, the student movement was revived and again became popular among young people.
Types of student brigades activities
Today, student brigades in Russia work in various areas, such as:
Construction brigades - participation in construction projects and improvement;
Pedagogical teams – work with children in summer camps and other educational projects;
Agricultural teams – help with harvesting and working in the fields;
Medical teams – work of medical students in hospitals and clinics;
Service teams – services in the field of tourism and public catering.
Holiday traditions
On Student Team Day, various events organized by students and educational institutions are held throughout Russia:
Concerts and meetings – festive concerts, meetings of student movement participants and veterans of student teams are held.
Awards – outstanding participants of the movement are presented with awards for active participation in the work of the teams and for their contribution to the development of the student movement.
Master classes and round tables – are organized to exchange experiences and discuss the prospects for the development of student teams.
