National Cat Day is celebrated annually around the world to celebrate domestic cats and raise awareness of homeless animal issues. In the United States, the day is celebrated on October 29 and was founded in 2005 by activist Colleen Paige, whose goal was to highlight the importance of humane treatment of cats, the need to rescue and adopt homeless animals, and to raise awareness about them.

How National Cat Day is Celebrated
