Local Government Day in Russia is celebrated annually on April 21. This holiday was established in 2012 by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation and is dedicated to recognizing the important role of local government in the life of society and the state.

Main events
Educational programs. Lectures, seminars and round tables are organized on the history and current state of local government.

Public events. Meetings with residents are held, where current problems of local communities and plans for their solution are discussed.

Awards. Distinguished employees of local government bodies are awarded certificates and letters of gratitude.

Children's and youth events. Essay and drawing competitions on the topic of local government are held in schools and universities, as well as excursions to municipal institutions.
