“The Day of Veterans of the Customs Service” is celebrated on May 29 not by accident: on that very day in 1918 a decree of the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR “On the differentiation of the rights of central and local Soviet authorities to collect duties and on the regulation of the activities of local customs institutions” was issued . In fact, this day is the birthday of the Soviet customs service. Until the collapse of the USSR , on May 29, in memory of this event, the Day of the Soviet Customs Officer was celebrated in the Soviet Union
