National Day of Saudi Arabia is celebrated annually on September 23. This holiday marks the unification of the various regions of the country into a single Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1932, under the leadership of King Abdulaziz ibn Saud.

History of the holiday
Before 1932, several separate states existed on the territory of modern Saudi Arabia, including the kingdoms of Nejd and Hejaz. On September 23, 1932, King Abdulaziz officially proclaimed the unification of these territories, which marked the beginning of the modern history of the country.

Traditions of the celebration
National Day of Saudi Arabia is an important public holiday. On this day, various events are held throughout the country:

Official ceremonies. Members of the royal family, government officials and high-ranking guests participate in the celebrations.

Parades and fireworks. The streets of the cities are decorated with national flags, and bright shows are held in the evening.

Cultural events. Exhibitions, concerts and folk dances such as the Arda, a traditional Saudi martial dance, are organized.
