World Hepatitis Day is an international day dedicated to raising awareness about viral hepatitis (A, B, C, D, and E), its prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. It is observed annually on July 28. This day was established by the World Health Organization (WHO) and is among the official international health days.

Purpose of the observance
Main goals of the day:

* inform the public about the risks associated with hepatitis
* promote vaccination (especially against hepatitis B)
* encourage people to get tested
* reduce the stigma faced by those affected
* support WHO’s global strategy to eliminate viral hepatitis as a public health threat by 2030

Why July 28
This date was chosen to honor the birthday of American physician and Nobel Prize laureate Baruch Blumberg, who discovered the hepatitis B virus and developed the first vaccine against it.

Symbolism and slogans
Each year a new theme is selected. For example:

* Hepatitis can’t wait – a call for immediate action
* I can’t wait – reflecting the urgent need for testing and treatment

The color symbolizing the fight against hepatitis is yellow. A stylized image of the liver is also often used.

How it is observed
In different countries, the day is marked with:

* educational campaigns
* free hepatitis testing
* awareness lectures
* support events for patients
* flash mobs and solidarity actions

If you wish, I can suggest a sample social media post or a script for a themed event.
