International Fact-Checking Day is celebrated on April 2. This day was established in 2017 by the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) to raise awareness of the importance of fact-checking and the reliability of information in today's information flow.

Objectives of International Fact-Checking Day
Raising awareness. The day is designed to draw attention to the problem of disinformation and fake news, which can negatively affect public opinion and decision-making.

Stimulating fact-checking. The holiday promotes the practice of fact-checking, both among professionals and the general public.

Teaching critical thinking skills. An important task is to teach people critical thinking skills so that they can independently verify information and not succumb to manipulation.

Support for independent journalists and organizations. International Fact-Checking Day also aims to support journalists and organizations working in the field of information verification and countering disinformation.

How is International Fact-Checking Day celebrated?
Educational events. Seminars, webinars, and workshops are held to teach fact-checking skills and critical analysis of information.

Awareness campaigns. Organizations and media outlets launch awareness campaigns to spread knowledge about fact-checking and the importance of reliable information.

Social media. Social media is a hotbed of discussion around disinformation, fake news, and how to spot them. Users share useful resources and tools for fact-checking.

Publications and research. Research and reports on the state of fact-checking are published, as well as recommendations for improving the quality of information.
