Martyrs' Day is a day celebrated by many countries to recognize and honor people who have died defending their country, fighting for freedom, or as victims of political, ethnic, or religious repression, war, and genocide. In different countries, this day may be associated with different historical events and figures who are considered national heroes or martyrs.
