Dignity and Freedom Day is a national holiday of Ukraine, which is celebrated annually on November 21. It was established in 2014 in honor of the beginning of two key events in the modern history of the country: the Orange Revolution of 2004 and the Revolution of Dignity of 2013–2014. The holiday symbolizes the aspiration of Ukrainians for freedom, democracy and the protection of human rights.

History of the holiday
Dignity and Freedom Day was established by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on November 13, 2014. It unites the memory of events that had a huge impact on the formation of modern Ukraine:

* The Orange Revolution of 2004, caused by falsifications in the presidential elections and mass protests of citizens for fair elections.
* The Revolution of Dignity of 2013–2014, when thousands of Ukrainians went to Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Kyiv, demanding a European path of development for the country and opposing corruption.

Meaning of the holiday
The holiday emphasizes the importance of civic activity, solidarity and the protection of human rights. It reminds society that freedom and dignity are the core values worth fighting for.

Traditions and events
On this day, various events are held to preserve the memory of the events and the people who participated in them:

* Ceremonial events and laying flowers at the monuments to the heroes of the revolutions.
* Public actions and rallies dedicated to the protection of human rights.
