National Guard Day of Ukraine is celebrated annually on March 26. This day is dedicated to the creation and activities of the National Guard of Ukraine (NGU) — one of the most important security agencies of the country, which carries out tasks to ensure internal security and maintain law and order.

The National Guard of Ukraine was formed on March 26, 2014, based on the decree of the President of Ukraine after the events of Euromaidan and the beginning of Russia's military aggression against Ukraine. Initially, the NGU was formed as a reserve force to protect the country, but with the development of the conflict in eastern Ukraine, it significantly expanded its functions, becoming an important part of the military and law enforcement system.

Festive events
On the Day of the National Guard of Ukraine, ceremonial events are usually held, such as:

Ceremonies of presenting awards and honorary titles to the personnel of the National Guard.

Parading and marching in large cities, especially in Kyiv.

Commemorative events dedicated to the exploits of the NGU personnel, including those who died in the line of duty, especially in the ATO/JFO zone (anti-terrorist operation/joint forces operation in eastern Ukraine).

Open events and exhibitions introducing the history and achievements of the National Guard.
