History of the creation of the SOF of Ukraine
The Special Operations Forces of Ukraine were created in 2015 against the backdrop of political and military events related to the need to reform the armed forces and adapt them to new challenges and threats. The creation of the SOF was part of large-scale changes in the national security system aimed at strengthening the capabilities to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.
The SOF of Ukraine consists of elite fighters who have undergone rigorous selection and training. Since its inception, this unit has been actively involved in carrying out secret and especially dangerous operations, including reconnaissance and rescue missions, as well as operations to eliminate security threats.
Celebration Traditions
Special Operations Forces Day of Ukraine is a day of respect and recognition of the professionalism, courage and dedication of the military. On this day, ceremonial events are held aimed at maintaining the fighting spirit of the SOF servicemen and raising awareness of the importance of their work:
Awards and assignment of titles. The best servicemen receive awards for their merits and bravery shown in the performance of dangerous tasks.
Ceremonial events and parades. Official events are held at which the country's leadership and military command congratulate the SOF on their professional holiday.
Meetings with veterans and honoring the memory of the fallen. This day also reminds us of the heroes who gave their lives for the security and independence of Ukraine.
