History of the holiday
On April 12, 1961, Yuri Gagarin became the first person to fly into space, and his spacecraft "Vostok-1" became a symbol of mankind's achievements in the field of cosmonautics. On this day, the CIS countries and other post-Soviet countries, including Ukraine, celebrate Cosmonautics Day. In Ukraine, on this day, workers in the rocket and space industry who are engaged in the development of rockets, spacecraft and other equipment for space exploration and development are also congratulated.
Ukraine has a rich history in the rocket and space industry. Even during the Soviet period, Ukrainian specialists took part in the development of missile systems, and later Ukraine became one of the leading manufacturers of rocket engines and components for spacecraft.

Professional events. On the Day of Workers of the Rocket and Space Industry of Ukraine, various events are held in honor of the labor achievements of specialists who work in this field. These can be conferences, lectures and round tables where the achievements and prospects of the industry are discussed.
Honorary awards. On this day, awards, commemorative medals and honorary titles can also be presented to industry workers who have made a significant contribution to the development of Ukrainian rocket and space technology.
Educational events. In some educational institutions, especially in technical universities and space institutes, thematic lectures, exhibitions and competitions for students dedicated to the rocket and space industry are held.
Museums and exhibitions. In some cities, for example, in Kyiv, exhibitions are held dedicated to Ukraine's space achievements, including exhibits related to the participation of Ukrainian specialists in various international space projects.
