Singles' Day is an informal holiday celebrated on November 11. The day originated in China as a way to celebrate loneliness and independence, as well as an alternative to traditional holidays for couples. Over time, Singles' Day has become a commercial event, especially in China, and has gained popularity as a day of sales and shopping.

Singles' Day was first celebrated in 1993 by a group of students from Nanjing University. The date of November 11 was chosen for a reason - it consists of four units (11.11), symbolizing loneliness.

Celebration Traditions
Shopping. Many online retailers offer significant discounts and promotions, attracting millions of shoppers. In China, this day has become the largest online shopping day, with billions of dollars spent on shopping.
