St Cuthbert's Day is celebrated annually on 20 March in memory of St Cuthbert (634–687), one of the most revered early Christian saints in northern England and Scotland. Cuthbert, a monk and bishop of Lindisfarne, is considered the patron saint of north-east England.

20 March is celebrated as the day of his repose in 687. Cuthbert was canonised shortly after his death, and his relics were long venerated in Durham Cathedral.
