Hug a GI Day is celebrated annually on March 4 and is dedicated to soldiers who serve or have served in the armed forces, protecting their country and ensuring the safety of citizens. This unofficial holiday has become a way to express gratitude and support for service members, as well as remind society of the importance of their work and sacrifice.

How to Celebrate Hug a GI Day
On this day, various events and actions are held to support service members and veterans:

Hugs and support. On this day, people are encouraged to hug soldiers if they know someone who serves or has served, or simply to express their gratitude in words and deeds.

Volunteer assistance and charity. Many people donate to funds that support service members, help veterans and families of soldiers, and also participate in volunteer events.

Letters and cards of gratitude. Those who wish can write a thank you letter or card to send to soldiers serving, especially overseas, to remind them that they are remembered and appreciated.

Organizing meetings and events. Many cities organize meetings with veterans and soldiers to connect and express their gratitude.
