DNA Day is celebrated annually on April 25 and is dedicated to the most important discoveries in the field of genetics and the role of DNA in science and medicine. This date was chosen for a reason: it was on this day in 1953 that Nature magazine published articles by James Watson, Francis Crick, Rosalind Franklin and Maurice Wilkins on the structure of the DNA molecule. In addition, on April 25, 2003, the Human Genome Project was officially completed.

Interesting facts about DNA
The length of DNA. If you stretched out the entire DNA of one person, it would reach a length of about 2 meters!

Genome commonality. Humans have 99.9% of the same DNA, and we share about 98% of genetic material with chimpanzees.

Quick analysis. Today, genome decoding takes only a few hours, whereas in the early 2000s it took years.

The code of life. Just four nitrogenous bases (adenine, thymine, guanine and cytosine) form the entire genetic code.
