National Parent Teacher Association Founders Day is celebrated annually on February 17 in the United States to honor the women who founded the PTA (Parent Teacher Association) movement in 1897. This day remembers the founders, Alice McLellan Birney and Phoebe Apperson Hearst, and their contributions to the creation of the organization, which was originally called the National Congress of Mothers. The organization later changed its name to PTA and became an important link in uniting parents, teachers, and the school community to improve the education system.
