Johnny Appleseed Day is celebrated annually on March 11th in honor of the legendary historical figure John Chapman, better known as Johnny Appleseed. The day honors his contributions to the development of horticulture in the United States and the popularization of apple growing.

John Chapman (1774–1845) was an American pioneer and missionary who traveled throughout what is now Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois in the early 19th century, planting apple trees. He also sold and distributed seeds and seedlings to help settlers grow orchards. For his contributions to agriculture and dedication to nature, he became a folk hero.

Legend and Legacy
Johnny Appleseed was known for his frugal lifestyle and closeness to nature. Legend has it that he wore a saucepan on his head as a hat and went barefoot, even in the winter. His work not only contributed to the spread of apple trees, but also became a symbol of hard work, generosity, and concern for the future.

Today, his name is associated with environmental awareness and the importance of caring for the environment.

Interesting Facts
