Peace Officers Memorial Day is observed annually in the United States on May 15. This day is dedicated to law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty or were seriously injured while protecting the lives, rights, and safety of citizens.

How is the holiday celebrated?
Wreath-laying ceremonies. On this day, official ceremonies are held at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C., where the names of fallen police officers are collected.

Half-mast flags. In accordance with the presidential proclamation, on May 15, state flags on all buildings and institutions in the United States are lowered as a sign of respect and mourning for the fallen.

Moments of silence and memorial services. Memorial events are held in police departments, churches, and other public places, including moments of silence and reading the names of fallen peace officers.

Police Week parade and events. Police Week features meetings between police officers, educational programs, and parades to highlight the importance of law enforcement and build ties between police and the community.
