Paddlefish Traits
Unique Appearance. The paddlefish's most distinctive feature is its long, flat nose, or "paddle," which makes up to a third of its body length. This organ helps the fish navigate murky waters and find food.

Filter feeder. The paddlefish feeds primarily on zooplankton, passing water through its gills and filtering its food. Its feeding system is similar to that of a whale, which is quite unusual for a freshwater fish.

Longevity. In the wild, the paddlefish can live up to 30 years, but it is very vulnerable to water pollution and habitat destruction.
