National Toast Day was established in 2014 by the organizers of the Tiptree World Bread Awards ceremony in the United Kingdom. The first celebration took place on February 24, 2015, with the aim of raising funds for the charity organization Kids Company, which provided hot meals and support to children in need. Despite the closure of Kids Company, the tradition of celebrating National Toast Day continued and spread beyond the United Kingdom, including to the United States.

Celebration Traditions
On this day, it is customary to enjoy a variety of toasts for breakfast or throughout the day. Toast lovers share photos of their culinary creations on social media with the hashtags #NationalToastDay and #ToastDay, helping to popularize the celebration and inspiring others to experiment in the kitchen.

Ways to Prepare Toast
Toasts can be made from different types of bread with a variety of toppings. Popular options include:
- Classic toast with butter or margarine
- Toast with jam, marmalade, or honey
- Toast with peanut butter or chocolate spread
- Savory toast with avocado, poached egg, or cheese
- French toast, made by dipping bread in a mixture of eggs and milk before frying

Celebrating National Toast Day is a great opportunity to get creative in the kitchen and enjoy favorite flavor combinations.
