Chant at the Moon Day - a holiday created by the agricultural company Stemilt Growers from Wenatchee, Washington, in 2018. It is dedicated to their special cherries under the brand A Half Mile Closer to the Moon®, which are grown at an altitude of 2,600 feet (about half a mile) above sea level — as if "closer to the Moon." According to the producer, the Moon's attraction enhances the flavor intensity, giving the fruit more sugar and complex taste notes.

Date of celebration
The holiday is celebrated annually on August 15. In 2025, it falls on Friday, August 15.

Essence and atmosphere of the holiday
This is a joyful and slightly whimsical holiday: people gather under the night sky and shout, sing, chant, or even howl towards the Moon — as a fun and symbolic act. The main idea is to fill the evening with light irrationality, joy, and connection with nature.

Interesting fact
