Women’s Equality Day is celebrated annually on August 26 in the United States and is dedicated to promoting women's rights and highlighting the importance of gender equality. This day is particularly associated with a historic achievement — the ratification of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which granted women the right to vote in 1920.

History
Women’s Equality Day was first observed in 1971 at the initiative of the National Organization for Women (NOW) in the United States. The choice of August 26 is linked to the anniversary of the adoption of the 19th Amendment. Initially, the day was devoted to women's right to vote, but over time it has become a symbol of the fight for equality in all areas of life.
