History of the holiday
The initiative began in 1992, when Morrill Worcester, the owner of a wreath company, donated surplus holiday wreaths to Arlington National Cemetery in Washington. Volunteers supported the idea, and the event became annual.
In 2007, the nonprofit organization Wreaths Across America was established, turning the event into a national movement.
