Esperanto Day is an annual holiday dedicated to the creation of the international language Esperanto. It is celebrated on July 26th, as this is the date in 1887 when the first Esperanto textbook, known as Unua Libro, was published by L. L. Zamenhof.

Who was L. L. Zamenhof?
Zamenhof was a Polish ophthalmologist of Jewish descent and the creator of Esperanto. He developed the language with the goal of enabling people from different countries and cultures to communicate using a neutral and simple language that doesn't belong to any one nation.
