The Feast of St. Vartan is an important day in Armenian culture and religious tradition, celebrated on February 26 (according to the old calendar) or February 27 (according to the new calendar). This day is dedicated to the memory of Saint Vartan Mamikonian, an Armenian general and hero who fought for the preservation of Armenian Christianity and independence from external conquerors. Saint Vartan is one of the most revered saints in the Armenian Church and is considered a symbol of courage, loyalty, and sacrifice.

History of the Feast of St. Vartan
Saint Vartan Mamikonian led the Armenian army in 451 against the Persian shah, who attempted to forcibly convert the Armenians to Zoroastrianism. During the famous Battle of Avarayr, Vartan and his army were killed, but their sacrifice became a symbol of resistance to religious pressure and the struggle for freedom.

After this battle, Saint Vartan was canonized by the Armenian Apostolic Church, and his feast day became a celebration. This day symbolizes not only military valor but also the spiritual victory of the Armenians over the coercion to change their faith.

How the Feast of St. Vartan is celebrated
- Church services: On this day, special church services are held in Armenian churches around the world, dedicated to the memory of Saint Vartan. People pray for peace and the protection of their faith, and also remember the sacrifice of the saint.

- Festive processions: In some places, especially in Armenia, solemn processions take place where people carry icons of Saint Vartan, sing church hymns, and participate in prayers.

- Prayers and repentance: In Armenia and among the Armenian diaspora, this day is often associated with inner purification and prayers for forgiveness. Believers visit churches, pray, and make vows to live according to Christian values.

Significance of the Feast of St. Vartan
The Feast of St. Vartan reminds Armenians of the importance of spiritual values, love for their homeland, sacrifice, and perseverance in the struggle for their ideals.
