International Translation Day is an annual holiday celebrated on September 30, the day the Catholic Church commemorates Saint Jerome, the patron saint of translators. Saint Jerome was the first person to translate the Bible into Latin from the Greek and Hebrew originals, making him a symbol for all those involved in translation.

International Translation Day was established in 1991 by the International Federation of Translators to celebrate the important role of translators in uniting people, spreading knowledge and building bridges between cultures. Since then, the holiday has gained wide recognition and is held in various countries around the world.
