International Translation Day is an annual holiday celebrated on September 30, the day the Catholic Church commemorates Saint Jerome, the patron saint of translators. Saint Jerome was the first person to translate the Bible into Latin from the Greek and Hebrew originals, making him a symbol for all those involved in translation.

International Translation Day was established in 1991 by the International Federation of Translators to celebrate the important role of translators in uniting people, spreading knowledge and building bridges between cultures. Since then, the holiday has gained wide recognition and is held in various countries around the world.

With the development of technology, automatic translation has become one of the key areas in which rapid progress is being made. Machine translators such as Google Translate have become an important tool, but they cannot yet replace human labor, especially in the case of complex texts and contexts. Therefore, the profession of a translator remains in demand and important.
