Kuwait's National Day is celebrated annually on February 25. It is dedicated to the anniversary of the accession of Emir Abdullah Al-Salim Al-Sabah, a ruler who played a key role in the formation of the modern State of Kuwait.

Why was this date chosen?
Emir Abdullah Al-Salim Al-Sabah became the ruler of Kuwait on February 25, 1950. Initially, Independence Day was celebrated on June 19, but it was later moved to February to avoid the intense heat typical of June. Since then, February 25 has become the official date of the national celebration.

How National Day is celebrated
The holiday is marked by numerous festive events:

* City streets are decorated with flags, garlands, and portraits of the Emir
* Parades, concerts, theatrical and dance performances take place
* Schools and universities organize themed events, quizzes, and exhibitions
* Citizens arrange picnics and family outings
* Fireworks are launched in the evenings

Symbolism and significance of the holiday
This day symbolizes not only the country's political independence, but also national unity, pride in its history, and respect for the ruling family. It is an important occasion to strengthen patriotism among citizens and demonstrate love for the homeland.
