History
The holiday was first celebrated in 1940. The date was chosen to coincide with the religious Feast of the Assumption and also to honor the reigning Prince’s birthday, which was close to that date. Over time, August 15th became a symbol of national pride and unity for the people of Liechtenstein.

National Day is celebrated with a variety of events and traditions, including:
