On March 1, 2008, a new region appeared on the map of Russia - the Trans-Baikal Territory. It became part of the Siberian Federal District and borders on the Irkutsk and Amur regions, the republics of Yakutia and Buryatia, China and Mongolia. The administrative center is the city of Chita.
