Historical significance
Before 1932, the territory of the modern state was divided into various regions and principalities. As a result of military and political campaigns, King Abdulaziz unified Hejaz, Najd, and the surrounding lands into a single kingdom. The decree on the establishment of Saudi Arabia was issued on September 23, 1932, and this date became the national holiday.
Celebration traditions
On this day, festive events take place throughout the country:
* official state ceremonies and speeches by members of the royal family;
* festive concerts, theatrical performances, and cultural festivals;
* street parades and shows with national dances;
* mass fireworks displays in major cities, especially in Riyadh and Jeddah;
* decoration of buildings and streets in green — the symbol of the national flag.
Modern features
National Day is an official public holiday. In recent years, the celebration has grown even larger: light shows, aviation demonstrations, youth and family events take place. This holiday also emphasizes national unity and the country’s aspiration for development within the framework of the “Saudi Vision 2030” program.
