The Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Babi Yar is observed in Ukraine every year on September 29. This date is connected with the tragic events of 1941, when in the ravine of Babi Yar in Kyiv, Nazi occupiers began mass executions of Jews, Roma, prisoners of war, and representatives of other groups. In just two days, September 29–30, 1941, more than 33,000 Jews were killed. Later, the executions continued, and the total number of victims in Babi Yar exceeded 100,000 people.

Significance
This day serves as a reminder of the Holocaust and other mass crimes committed during the Second World War. It emphasizes the importance of preserving historical memory, combating anti-Semitism, racism, and any manifestations of hatred.
