National Peach Melba Day is celebrated annually on January 13 in the United States and is dedicated to one of the most exquisite desserts – Melba peaches. This dessert was created by the famous French chef Auguste Escoffier in the late 19th century in honor of the Australian opera singer Nellie Melba.

History of the dessert
Peach Melba appeared in 1892, when Nellie Melba, one of the most famous opera divas of that time, performed in London. Chef Auguste Escoffier, delighted with her talent, decided to create a dessert in her honor. For this dish, he took ripe, juicy peaches, which he served with vanilla ice cream and covered with raspberry sauce.

The name of the dessert immortalized the name of Nellie Melba, and the dessert itself became a classic of French cuisine, retaining its popularity to this day.

How to Celebrate National Melba Peach Day
