The National Heat Awareness Day is observed annually on the last Friday of May. In 2025, it falls on May 30. This day was established by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the National Weather Service (NWS) to raise awareness about the risks associated with high temperatures and to prevent heat-related illnesses and deaths.

Purpose of the holiday
The main goal is to inform the public, especially outdoor workers, about precautions to take during extreme heat. This includes:

* Ensuring access to shade, rest, and water
