Don’t Fry Day is an annual day dedicated to skin cancer prevention and raising awareness about the importance of UV protection. It is observed on the last Friday of May, just before the start of the summer season.

Purpose of the holiday
The main goal of Don’t Fry Day is to raise awareness about the dangers of excessive sun exposure and encourage people to take responsibility for their health. This day was established by the National Council on Skin Cancer Prevention in the United States.

Main recommendations related to the day
On this day, people are reminded of simple but important sun safety precautions:

* Wear protective clothing, including a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses
* Use sunscreen with a high SPF
* Avoid being in the sun during peak hours (10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.)
* Seek shade when staying outside for long periods
* Pay special attention to children and the elderly

Why is this important?
Skin cancer is one of the most common types of cancer, especially in countries with high sun exposure. Don’t Fry Day helps remind us that simple prevention can protect health and even save lives.
