History of Amaretto
Amaretto (from the Italian "amaro" - "bitter") is a liqueur obtained from apricot kernels, almonds or other nuts. It has a sweet taste with a characteristic bitterness and aroma of nuts. Origin. Legend has it that amaretto was invented in Italy in 1525, when the artist Raphael asked a local woman called Lucrezia to make a drink for his aging master. He asked her to make a drink that would be "bitter but sweet," and amaretto was born.
